My apologies for the extremely long delay in posts to this page. Unfortunately, work and personal obligations have conspired to prevent me from spending much time on chess as of late. Since I never reported the winners of the last Parkersburg Homecoming Tournament, I will do so now.
The 23rd Annual Parkersburg Homecoming Chess Tournament was held on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the Parkersburg Municipal Building at 2nd & Market Streets in Parkersburg, WV. In the rated section there was a tie for first between Miguel Lopez of Daniels, WV and Boyd Reed of Aliquippa, PA, with Lopez taking the trophy on tiebreaks. There was a three-way tie for third place between Armando Lopez of Daniels, WV, Robert Canary of Mullens, WV, and Ed Garner of Pennsboro, WV. There was a three-way tie for the U1800 class prize between James Fuller of Nitro, WV, Aaron Richardson of Spencer, WV, and Benjamin Wallace of Cross Lanes, WV. There was a four-way tie for the U1000 class prize between Matthew Ellis of Bridgeport, WV, Surya Perla of Cross Lanes, WV, Nathaniel Palmer of Clarksburg, WV, and Gerald Honaker of Little Hocking, OH.
In the non-rated section, Emmett Cady of Marietta, OH took the first place trophy, while Anthony Jenkins of Walker, WV took the second place trophy. Thanks very much to Craig Timmons for directing the tournament this year, and to Patrick Kelly for organizing! A cross table for the tournament can be found here.
