Karpov-Kasparov Match in the WSJ

The Wall Street Journal printed an article yesterday about the recent match between Karpov and Kasparov. It's an interesting read, although their research is questionable. They credit Mikhail Botvinnik with leading the transition from the Romantic style of Anderssen and Morphy to the Classical style based on positional strength. They totally ignore Steinitz's work decades before. Oh well, that's journalism for you.

Article on Bobby Fischer

Chess in the Park Update

We had a great time in the park last night. Six players were able to make it, including Ben Good who made the trip all the way from Clarksburg. We played a lot of blitz, as well as a few longer games. I've added some photos from the event to our club meetings gallery. Let's plan to do this again soon!
