Free Houdini Beats Commercial Rybka

I posted this on the club's Facebook page a few weeks ago, but I thought I would put a link to it on the blog as well in case anyone had missed it. The free chess engine Houdini has beaten the commercial chess engine Rybka in a forty-game match recently. ChessVibes has the story here.

Three sample games from the match are included in the report, including one where Houdini dramatically sacrifices material to defeat Rybka. If you are looking for a strong, free chess engine for analysis, then you might want to give Houdini a try.
