West Virginia State Chess Championship

The 71st Annual West Virginia State Chess Championship was held this past weekend at the Benedum Civic Center in Bridgeport, WV. Twenty-eight players competed in this six-round event. The winners were as follows:

Championship: Benjamin Good & John Roush tied with 5 points each.
Under 1900: Sid Parhi won first prize with 4.5 points. Michael Felton took second with 4 points.
Under 1600: Terry Wassell won first prize with 4.5 points. Benjamin Cowley took second with 4 points.
Under 1300: Matt Richardson and Lewis Sanders tied with 3 points each.
Junior: Christopher, Joseph and Robert Greer tied with 1.5 points each.
