The Wall Street Journal printed an
article yesterday about the recent match between Karpov and Kasparov. It's an interesting read, although their research is questionable. They credit Mikhail Botvinnik with leading the transition from the Romantic style of Anderssen and Morphy to the Classical style based on positional strength. They totally ignore Steinitz's work decades before. Oh well, that's journalism for you.
That's funny. I mean, I love Botvinnik, but c'mon...
